Microbial Platforms for a Circular Bioeconomy We develops sustainable microbial solutions by responsibly collecting naturally occurring fungi, algae, yeasts, and bacteria from nature. After thorough safety screening, selected beneficial microbes are isolated and preserved, while all large-scale production takes place in controlled bioreactors using renewable inputs, enabling scalable, land-independent manufacturing with minimal environmental impact.
From Waste to Value A core principle of our approach is the use of waste and side streams, such as forest by-products, as feedstock and growth media. By transforming low-value residues into nutrient-rich microbial biomass, we convert linear value chains into circular ones and reduce reliance on land-intensive crops or animal production.
Optimized, Safe, and Scalable Each microbial strain is evaluated for safety and screened for its ability to produce proteins, lipids, and other high-value natural compounds. The most promising strains are optimized for productivity, stability, and quality, enabling efficient large-scale production for food and feed applications. Measurable Environmental Impact By converting waste into microbial protein, lipids, and bioactive molecules in bioreactors, Nordic MicrobTech delivers valuable ingredients with significantly lower resource use. This approach can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to ~90% compared with many conventional alternatives, while easing pressure on arable land, freshwater, and biodiversity.
